Workplace Training 2019: “Different Kinds of Minds”

Every person who walks through the doors of JAMS deserves respect and understanding. However, some members of the population don’t conform to social expectations of neurotypicality. These people, who may have a diagnosable personality disorder, or who may be on the autism spectrum, may suffer PTSD or have ADD/ADHD, may be more difficult to relate to, but it is incumbent on JAMS’ panelists and staff to take the extra step and learn to work with people with “different kinds of minds.”

In this presentation, shot at the 2019 Owners Meeting, Institute director Rich Birke walks us through a short and cursory primer on the latest wisdom on these sensitive and important matters. At the live event, there were several short breaks for table discussion. While we’ve omitted these, we encourage you to watch the video and engage in similar discussion with colleagues who may not have attended the meeting.

NOTE: This program qualifies for credit under JAMS’ mandatory workplace training policy, which requires three hours of training on civility, communication and other workplace-related subjects every three years.
