Mediation Ethics for Advocates

Mediation Ethics for Advocates Step by Step Presentation Guide.docxMediation Ethics for Advocates.pptMediation Ethics for Advocates.pptxWe know you love (or at least need) ethics credits. So do your clients.

Looking for a win-win, we’ve put together a presentation designed for you to present to your clients – existing and potential. The presentation looks at mediation ethics from the point of view of the advocate and our hope is that you will reserve a room, invite your favorite folks and walk them through a series of issues and hypotheticals on that topic. Your clients get CLE ethics credit, and you get a multiplier of those credits just by being the presenter. (In California, for example, the multiplier is 4-to-1. See the attached chart for the multiplier in your jurisdiction.)

The materials included are a powerpoint slide deck and a presenter’s guide. The presenter’s guide walks you through the presentation slide by slide, and includes points to make, questions to ask and more.

The slide deck will speak for itself. The only thing to note is that there are some really great notes embedded in the “notes” section under each slide. If you don’t know how to use “presenter view” – which enables you to see those notes while you present but hides them from participants’ eyes – let me know and I’ll walk you through it.

Two last notes:
A big thanks to Deirdre Gallagher for helping put this together, and to our current co-chairs of the Ethics Committee of the Board, Wayne Andersen and Ellen James, for their guidance and input.

Similar Institute programs – as “wikis.” What I mean to say is that if you look at or use the materials and have ideas for edits, changes or additions, let us know. We will continue to update the slide deck and presenter’s guide based on your input and feedback.
